Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies to TaskFree, an Android task manager developed by Muon App Development.

Summary
TaskFree is a local-only app. Your tasks, categories, reminders, and settings are stored on your own device, not on servers run by Muon App Development.
TaskFree does not use ads, analytics, tracking SDKs, accounts, cloud sync, or developer-operated servers. TaskFree does not request internet access, so the app itself has no direct network path for sending your task data anywhere.
The main exception is Android’s own app-data backup system. If Android backup is enabled on your device, Android or Google may back up TaskFree app data to your Google account. TaskFree does not operate that backup service and Muon App Development cannot see or access those backups.
Information You Enter
TaskFree lets you create and manage tasks, categories, due dates, reminders, repeat settings, archived tasks, display preferences, and optional backup encryption settings. This information is stored locally on your device in the app database and app preferences.
TaskFree does not send any of this information to Muon App Development.
What Leaves Your Device
TaskFree itself does not upload your app data. Your data may leave your device only in these cases:
- Android or Google backs up app data to your Google account because Android backup is enabled on your device.
- You manually export a TaskFree backup file and choose where to save or share it.
- You turn on the automatic backup file and use another app, such as a sync app, to copy that file off your device. TaskFree only writes the file on your device; it never uploads it.
- Android displays a local notification reminder using task information already stored on your device.
Muon App Development does not receive your task data, backup files, reminders, categories, recovery phrase, or encryption key.
Permissions
TaskFree may request notification permission so it can show task reminders. If reminders are enabled, Android may display scheduled reminder notifications using task text and category information stored on your device.
TaskFree uses the boot-completed permission to reschedule reminders after your device restarts.
TaskFree uses the foreground-service permission to finish saving the automatic backup file for a short time after you leave the app.
Backups and Restore
TaskFree supports Android backup and restore. This is the only automatic off-device backup path in the app. If Android backup is enabled on your device, Android or Google may back up TaskFree app data to your Google account according to your device and Google account settings. TaskFree does not operate this backup service, does not choose where it is stored, and does not receive your backup data.
TaskFree can also keep an automatic backup file. If you turn it on, TaskFree saves an encrypted copy of your tasks to a file you choose on your device and keeps it up to date. The file is encrypted with your recovery phrase, so it can only be read with that phrase. TaskFree does not upload this file. If you want a copy off your device, you can use another app, such as a sync app, to upload it; that app’s own privacy policy then applies.
You can also manually export an unencrypted JSON backup file, and restore from either kind of backup file. Manual export and restore are user-initiated. A backup file is saved only to the location you choose and may contain your tasks, categories, dates, statuses, recurrence settings, and reminder information.
TaskFree offers optional encryption for app data, including data that Android may back up. Recovery phrase and derived key material are stored on your device and are excluded from Android cloud backup. A phrase hash may be backed up so TaskFree can check the phrase during restore, but the phrase itself is not included in Android cloud backup.
Sharing
TaskFree does not sell or share any of your personal data with advertisers, analytics providers, or other third parties.
TaskFree may rely on standard Android and Google Play services provided by your device or Google account, such as app installation, notification delivery, and Android backup if you have enabled it. These services are governed by Google’s privacy policies and your device settings. They are not operated by Muon App Development.
Data Retention and Deletion
TaskFree keeps your app data until you delete it. You can delete tasks and categories in the app, delete exported backup files from wherever you saved them, clear TaskFree app data in Android settings, or uninstall the app.
TaskFree does not provide account deletion because it does not create or manage user accounts.
Changes
This policy may be updated when TaskFree changes how it handles data. The current version will be available at this page.
